BPW Geelong - It just makes sense. Women in film

Film producer, Leanne Tonkes, began her working life as a sound engineer for Australian bands such as Eurythmics, Pseudo Echo and Hunters & Collectors - in an era when women within the industry were very uncommon. As a producer of television commercials for 15 years and now feature films and television, Leanne strongly believes we need more female role models in both genres.

Leanne is passionate about her industry, but also recognises the significant gender imbalance - an issue she is hoping to bring to the table at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne by conducting a Q&A session.

Her film company, Sense & Centsability seeks brave, entertaining and emotional stories with a focus on content that appeal to female audiences. The company strives to work with new and established talent and seeks to create content that will attract a worldwide audience. The company is Leanne's vehicle for telling the stories she is most passionate about.

Recently returned from Cannes Film Festival, we look forward to Leanne sharing her experiences and stories with us.
