Pivot Summit 2015 - insights on digital futures impacting on work and life
The inaugural Pivot Summit 2015 brings global and national digital thought leaders to Geelong this October to highlight how future economic potential is linked to digital and creative industries and the opportunity for Geelong to be a key player in its economic transformation.
Leading speakers including Rackspace Futurist and former Microsoft Technology Evangelist Robert Scoble and Principal Digital Analyst for Altimeter Group, anthropologist and author Brian Solis will provide ideas and insights to help businesses innovate to generate economic and social benefits for sustainable jobs of the future.
Pivot Summit Inc President and Digitalsmith Director Leighton Wells said that securing this event with highly sought after speakers for Geelong was an opportunity that needed to be seized.
“After attending the Telstra Digital Summit 2013 in Melbourne, I knew we needed to support Geelong transforming from its traditional manufacturing-based economy. After approaching Telstra to bring the event to Geelong, we have been able to create a unique brand for the Summit and start building on something that I believe will grow into a key part of Geelong’s future narrative,” Mr Wells said.
“What isn’t well known in Geelong yet, is the depth and breadth of jobs and enterprises we already have in the region in digital and creative industries. Data shows that within the City of Greater Geelong alone, 6.3 percent of all jobs provided are within the digital and creative industries sector (10,745 jobs). With the manufacturing sector in decline, growth in creative industries is clearly seen around the world as a growing sector. Pivot Summit will have clear linkages to future job creation and economic growth.”
Other speakers at Pivot Summit 2015 include co-founder and Chief Executive Officer from Catapult Sports Shaun Holthouse, Co-founding Director of Customer Led Innovation and Design Consultancy Symplicit Jodie Moule and head of global security operations for ANZ Adam Cartwright
Pivot Summit 2015 will be held on 28 October 2015 at The Pier and engage over 500 creative and digital professionals and over 2,000 unique participating online streams. Several other complementary events are planned including an Entrepreneurs Masterclass (29/10) and a Hackathon (30/10).
Pivot Summit Inc is an industry-led not for profit organisation supported by ICT Geelong.
