Women in Manufacturing Network

Join us for the launch of this new networking group aimed at raising the profile of and supporting women in manufacturing and engineering careers in Geelong.

This event features panel discussions with established women, leaders in their field, with extensive experience in the manufacturing and engineering sectors. Hear about their career journeys, motivations, successes and challenges as they share their views on the key drivers of change to increase female participation in the manufacturing sector.

Featuring MC: Madeleine McManus, Director of External Engagement, Monash University
Madeleine has a professional background in engineering, supply chain management, consulting and executive search. Double degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering and Commerce, she has spent a number of years in the commercial and project engineering environment working in industries such as chemical, oil and gas. She is a past President of Engineers Australia (Vic) and currently works with Monash University as their Director of External Engagement.

Panel Guest: Leonie Walsh, Lead Scientist Victoria.
Leonie has over 25 years of technology leadership and product development experience with multi-national companies such as Visy, Henkel and Dow Chemical with a focus on the development and commercialisation of technology. She is currently Victorian Lead Scientist and her role includes advocating the importance of Science technology and innovation in building the skills for Victoria’s future industries.

Panel Guest: Deb Cailes, Vice President Manufacturing and Supply at IDT Australia
With a background in the pharmaceutical industry, Deb has extensive experience in leading successful lean implementations and strategic change. Having diversified her career into the service sector, she has now returned to manufacturing, responsible for leading growth in organisational capability and capacity.

Panel Guest: Jo Staines, GM Business Operations at Boeing Aerostructures Australia.  With 19 years experience in a variety of roles at Boeing, Jo's current role encompasses traditional Program Management, Management Information Systems & Reporting, Contracting, Project Planning & Control and Global Trade Control along with Intellectual Property Management responsibilities.
