Deakin's Business Internship Program

Could your business use extra help?

Deakin University and Enterprise Geelong are partnering to promote Work Integrated Learning Business Internship opportunities for small business. Deakin's Business Internship program gives students the opportunity to undertake a discipline specific work placement and provides employers with an opportunity to both utilise the students’ skills and to support student development and growth through on the job learning.

Students are able to undertake placements applying their skills across a variety of business disciplines such as Marketing, Human Resources, Business Analytics, Events and Financial Planning or Accounting.

Examples of projects include:

Development and implementation of a strategic marketing plan in accordance with business goals, updating/creating position descriptions for your business using PD templates, conducting business analysis in conjunction with staff, event planning, coordination and implementation and financial file checking.

The placements are 120 hours and are flexibly designed to suit the student and the business. Under the Business Internship Model you can have a student in an unpaid role for a maximum of 120 hours. Students would work at least one day a week in your business, the program is flexible and the actual number of days per week is up to you and the student.

Group workshops will be held as part of the program providing an opportunity for the students and businesses to come together for shared learning. Topics for the workshops could include marketing for growth, crisis management, building your online strategy.
